Let’s create a garland using cheerful summer flowers. This one is made with yellow summer flowers and hints of pink. It simply shouts ‘summer!’ and it adds the pefect touch to your garden or home. Luckily, this lovely summer garland it’s not hard to make.
- Amaranthus (a hanging variety)
How do you make it?
Cut off a generous strip of chicken wire (euro fence wire) to use as the base for your summer garland.
Cut floral foam bricks into three pieces and distribute them over the chicken wire. The number of pieces of floral foam depends on how long you want your garland to be. Leave some space between the pieces of floral foam.
In the space you left between the pieces of floral foam, use string to pull the chicken wire together (as if you were making sausages). Tie a sturdy piece of twine to both ends of the garland to hang it up.
Insert the flowers into the floral foam, starting with the flowers that have thick stems – like sunflowers. Then start hiding the chicken wire by inserting filler flowers. The delicate, more fragile materials are added last.
Garden party, an outdoor wedding or a neighbourhood picnic. A summer garland immediately gives your party venue a bright and sunny look. You could also repeat the flowers in the garland by using them in the table decoration: what about a series of mini informal bouquets in simple glass vases? Or place a large bouquet of wildflowers next to the entrance.
