Who is the new World Champion Floral Art, Bart Hassam from Australia? Fleur Créatif spoke with the 42-year-old floral designer who has a flowershop in Brisbane and loves working with sub-tropical plants.
Wow, World Champion! Was this your ambition?
Bart Hassam: “My goal was to be in the top ten. As long as I was in the top ten, I was going to be happy. It was always a nice thing to think about to be in the top 5. But honestly, I do not like this competition formula. I prefer World Cups were all the contestants do all of the tests. I don’t like it being called down. If you put all of that effort in and spend all of that money to come, than it would be nice to have the opportunity in front of everybody, your friends and your country, to be up on stage on the final night. It’s difficult with 23 people on stage, I know, but I think it would be great if that could happen.”

How did you experience everything?
“It’s been really fun actually. I enjoyed the process of planning and executing a design. And to do it with another 22 people from all over the world in the same contest, is a really exceptional opportunity. And it’s been great fun!”
Apparently you seemed to remain very calm under the pressure.
